1655 BIBLE IN ENGLISH
Lacking original spine. Rebacked with the spine decorated in gold in period style.
THE WORKS OF MACHIAVELLI
A particularly challenging project. The book was disbound, with none of the original spine remaining, the corners very worn and with a number of areas of loss to the leather on the covers. The book was re-sewn, the corners of the covers rebuilt and re-covered with new leather as were other areas of loss on the covers. The covers were re-attached on new cords and the book rebacked. With no original spine to use as a reference, the new spine was tooled in gold in a simple contemporary style.
Rebacked with the spines tooled to match the originals.
17th CENTURY BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER

VOLUME OF MISCELLANIES
Rebacked but unable to save the original spine which was too worn to remove intact. New spine re-tooled in gold to match the original.
LIFE OF JOHN MYTTON
Front cover detached, but with the binding otherwise intact. Front hinge repaired.
OVID'S ART OF LOVE
A challenging project where the book had already been rebacked amateurishly in the past, covering the original spine and damaging much of the leather on the covers adjacent to the hinges. The older reback had failed, with the covers now detached. The older repair material was removed, exposing the original decorative spine which was beyond saving. The book was rebacked (properly!), preserving the leather around the hinges as best as possible and the spine re-tooled in gold to closely match the original.
SULLINGTON VILLAGE MARRIAGE REGISTER
In continuous use since 1831, this Parish marriage register has spent its whole life stored in a Parish Church,
slowly becoming more and more damaged. The vellum binding had split at the front hinge, the spine was torn and the two back corners were heavily worn. The corners were rebuilt and then re-covered in colour-matched vellum. The spine was rebacked, with the remains of the original spine laid down and the vestiges of old adhesive tape were removed.
16th CENTURY VIRGIL
Rebacked with the remains of the original spine laid down. The upper and lower panels and left hand edge of the spine, missing on the original, re-tooled in gold to match the style of decoration.
